Management’s meeting statement was that, because of increased costs, it did not see a way to balance the upcoming budget without roughly a 20% increase. Management also said the Association was approximately $43,000 over budget.
Rising costs can be real. But budgeting has two sides: raising revenue and controlling expenses. Owners should be shown what contracts were rebid, what discretionary costs were reduced, what legal spending was controlled, and what other savings were considered before another large dues increase.
